The objective of the Bike Sense Review Workshop is to support the ongoing relevance of Bike Sense through a full content review, case law examination for relevant edits to safety information, examination and suggestions for governance of the editorial powers and responsibilities, co-operation with regulators and enforcement bodies, and exploration of distribution opportunities and needs.

More About Bike Sense [ + ]

Bike Sense was first developed in 2000 by the Greater Victoria Cycling Coalition and has since been recognized by communities across the province for its comprehensive approach to informing and educating cyclists and other road users on safe cycling.  More than 100,000 copies of Bike Sense have been printed and distributed to cyclists and road users of all ages.

The founding principle of Bike Sense is to increase the safety of cyclists and those with whom they share the road.

By organizing to increase relevance and distribution of Bike Sense, we can demonstrate to cyclists that there are rules to cycling on BC streets and roads and there are researched recommendations for cycling techniques to increase overall safety.

In this way Bike Sense strives to demonstrate to the inexperienced cyclist, as well as to all levels of experienced cyclists, that the street is not a war zone and cycling is safer when done in a predictable manner.

After fourteen years, the Bike Sense publication will now be moving under the umbrella of the BC Cycling Coalition. This transition offers a unique opportunity to bring together partners to review the content and develop strategies to maximize value from Bike Sense through a facilitated workshop on October 17th, 2014.

Your participation in the workshop is appreciated to ensure the information in Bike Sense is accurate, up to date and effective for road users.

We hope you will help us in ensuring that your organization is an active participant in the conversation regarding the future content, design and distribution of Bike Sense.

The Future of Bike Sense

We look forward to hearing back from you regarding attendance at the October 17th Workshop and on ideas and approaches to future Bike Sense direction, collaborative governance and funding.

Sincerely,
